Senate Republican and Democratic lawmakers joined together in a display of bipartisan condemnation of Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and FBI Director Christopher Wray after the two declined to testify on Thursday before the Senate on global threats facing the U.S. homeland.

Mayorkas and Wray requested to move the annually-scheduled Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee (HSGAC) hearing to a classified setting, which would have broken with 15 years of precedence according to Democratic Michigan Sen. Gary Peters, Chairman of the HSGAC.

Whitmer Celebrates $28M Selfridge Air National Guard Base Spending

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer joined federal, state, and local leaders to break ground on a 41,900 square-foot facility to transform two hangars into a new hangar equipped for fighter maintenance at Selfridge Air National Guard Base. 

The new facility will house maintenance on the main level and leadership/staff offices and classrooms on the second floor.

Wall Street Exec Considers a U.S. Senate Run for Stabenow’s Seat in Michigan

A Wall Street executive is considering a run for United States Senate in Michigan for retiring Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow’s seat in 2024 as Republicans have yet to court a serious contender for the vacancy, according to Politico.

Vice Chairman of the New York Stock Exchange and Michigan native John Tuttle served under former President George W. Bush’s Political Affairs Office and has been working on Wall Street since 2007, according to Politico. The Wall Street executive could potentially face Democratic opposition from Rep. Elissa Slotkin, and has already been corresponding with Republicans in Michigan and Washington, D.C.
