Vice President Mike Pence is planning a bus tour through Michigan next week that will include a “Keep America Great” rally with former White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
The bus tour is set to take place on December 4 and will include stops in Portage, Holland, and Grand Rapids, President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign said in a statement. The day will conclude with a 5 p.m. “Keep America Great” rally in Holland with Sanders, who stepped down from the Trump administration earlier this year and is rumored to be considering a gubernatorial run in Arkansas.
The visit will mark Vice President Pence’s third stop in Michigan this year, and his 12th visit to the Great Lakes state since taking office in 2017. Pence addressed the Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference in September and endorsed Republican John James in his race against Sen. Gary Peters.
“Join me in thanking John James for his leadership, past, present and future,” said Pence. “I’m going to be able to say I was a John James fan before he was cool.”
Michigan Republican Party Chairwoman Laura Cox released a statement ahead of Pence’s upcoming visit, saying she’s looking forward to welcoming him back to the state.

“The path to victory in 2020 runs through Michigan, and we are so excited for our great vice president to be back here talking about his administration’s countless accomplishments that has our economy booming,” Cox added. “The Michigan Republican Party fights day in and day out to keep Michigan red in 2020, and secure four more prosperous years under the Trump administration.”
Vice President Pence said on Twitter that “American and Michigan need four more years of President Donald Trump in the White House.”

A poll released in late October showed that President Trump had a higher approval rating among Michigan voters than the state’s own Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, a Democrat whose approval rating tanked between June and October.
A Siena College/New York Times poll of possible general election matchups had Trump trailing Sen. Bernie Sanders and former Vice President Joe Biden in Michigan, but leading Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
