Michigan Pro-Life PAC Endorses John James for Senate

The Right to Life of Michigan Political Action Committee (RLM-PAC) endorsed John James for Senate Wednesday, more than a year before the 2020 election.

Paul Miller, the PAC’s chairman, called James a “wonderful man who will protect unborn children.” Endorsing a candidate this early is a “rare” move, according to RLM-PAC. In the past, President Donald Trump has endorsed James and called him the “future of the Republican Party.”

The military veteran holds a variety of common pro-life views. For example, he believes in defunding Planned Parenthood and banning abortion unless a mother’s life is at risk.

“I am 100% Pro-Life. Always have been. Always will be,” the Republican Senate candidate said in 2018.

RLM-PAC endorsed James in his 2018 Michigan Senate race, but he lost to Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow by less than seven percentage points.

Michigan’s pro-life PAC views keeping the Senate pro-life as crucial.

“Having a pro-life Senate is vital, and it may come down to John James. After the Kavanaugh nomination, it should be clear that a Senate with a pro-abortion majority will not just block nominees who don’t agree with them, but personally destroy them,” Miller said.

James announced his second bid for the Senate on D-Day this year.

“We are heading in the wrong direction as a country and our leaders in Washington are failing to lead us toward a better and brighter future,” James tweeted. “I believe I can help lead Michigan toward that future we deserve, and that’s why I am running for U.S. Senate.”

James is bidding for the Republican nomination to go up against incumbent Sen. Gary Peters.

The race between Peters and James is supposed to be one of the closest Senate races in 2020. A March Emerson poll had Peters beating James by one percent.
