U.S. Gymnasts Reach $380 Million Settlement in Larry Nassar Sexual Abuse Case

The organizations at the head of U.S. gymnastics have agreed to a $380 million payout for the victims of longtime team doctor Larry Nassar – a convicted child molester who sexually abused several members of the U.S. Olympic Gymnastics team, as well as hundreds of other aspiring gymnasts. He is currently serving 40-175 years in prison for his crimes.

The Wall Street Journal reports that it is one of the largest-ever payouts for victims of a sexual abuse scandal.

Suni Lee Wins Individual All-Around Gold

American gymnast Sunisa “Suni” Lee won gold in the women’s individual all-around competition at the Tokyo Olympics on Thursday, ESPN reported.

Lee received a total score of 57.433, beating out Brazilian Rebeca Andrade’s score of 57.298 and becoming the sixth American to win the women’s individual all-around at the Games, ESPN reported.

“The waiting game was something I hated so much, but when I saw my score came out on top, it was so emotional,” Lee said after winning, according to ESPN. “It doesn’t feel like real life.”
