An illegal alien was arrested in a Northern Virginia suburb for his alleged involvement in a deadly hit-and-run accident and handed over to immigration officials, but local leaders are looking to scrap a program that allows law enforcement to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Officials in Prince William County, Virginia, have debated ending a years-long partnership program with federal immigration authorities, the 287(g) program. The introduction of new jail board appointees is expected to lead to the end of this partnership, according to proponents of the program.

Mexican National Illegally Crossed Border for Coronavirus Medical Care

A man crossed the U.S.-Mexico border illegally to seek treatment for COVID-19 symptoms, the head of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said Thursday.

“This week, [U.S. Border Patrol] agents encountered a Mexican national who after being apprehended, was showing symptoms of COVID-19,” CBP acting Commissioner Mark Morgan tweeted. “During his medical assessment he admitted to being exposed to COVID-19 and his deliberate intentions to illegally enter the US for medical care.”

A leftwing religious Minnesota group called ISAIAH has long been touting the story of Carlos Urrutia. Urratia, according to ISAIAH, is a “faith leader” who “was forcibly and abruptly taken by ICE in July of 2018 while his family and other ISAIAH leaders watched in horror.” The ISAIAH story goes on to make it sound like Urratia was randomly picked up, despite being a longtime U.S. resident with children in the country, simply for the crime of being undocumented.
