Michigan Dems Launch Website to Expose ‘Far-Right Statements’ of John James

The Michigan Democratic Party recently launched a new website for the exclusive purpose of exposing Republican Senate candidate John James’ “far-right statements and positions.”

The website, called “John James Revealed,” will “publish statements James made and positions he took over the course of the 2018 cycle—including some he was caught deleting from his social media in the weeks after his loss,” said a press release.

So far, the website has published James’ claim that he supports President Donald Trump “2000 percent,” and his description of a law protecting Michiganders with pre-existing conditions as a “monstrosity.”

“John James is trying to hide what he believes from voters and the fact is that his true positions would hurt Michigan — whether that’s supporting a president ‘2000 percent’ of the time or promising to repeal coverage protections for pre-existing conditions,” said party spokesperson Alex Japko. “Voters expect their senator to have the independence to stand up for what is right for our state and as JohnJamesRevealed.com shows, we cannot trust James to put Michigan first.”

The Michigan Democratic Party accused James of “traveling the country to fundraise with mega-donors” while he “hides from voters.” James traveled to Washington, D.C. Thursday to attend what Michigan Democrats called a “two-day fundraising retreat at the Trump International Hotel.”

“James’ embrace of Trump and McConnell proves he would be their loyal ally in the Senate, and help them pass their toxic agenda,” Japko added. “James’ close ties to Washington Republicans may help him raise a few more campaign dollars, but it shows he will never be an independent voice for Michiganders.”

In response, the National Republican Senatorial Committee bought the domain name for “realjerrypeters.com,” intentionally spelling the name of Sen. Gary Peters incorrectly to mock his low name-recognition numbers.

“We launched realjerrypeters.com to highlight Michigan’s most unaccomplished and unknown senator,” the NRSC wrote on Twitter, noting that nearly 40 percent of Michiganders have “never heard of” Peters.

As The Michigan Star reported, an October poll had James and Peters in a “virtual tie” in their race for the Senate.
