Louisville Police Confirm at Least 5 Dead, 6 Injured in Louisville Shooting

Louisville Metro Police Department said at least 5 people are dead and 6 others were hospitalized after a mass shooting downtown Monday morning in the Kentucky city.

“There is no longer an active aggressor threat. The suspected shooter has been neutralized,” the department tweeted shortly around 10:15 a.m. local time.

Five people are dead and six were transported to the hospital, while the suspected shooter is also dead, according to Kentucky Fox affiliate WDRB News.

Residents received public safety alerts on their phones telling them to avoid the area of the incident.

“There is an active police situation downtown. Please avoid the area around Slugger Field until further notice. We will provide information as soon as possible,” Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg tweeted at 9:15 a.m. local time.

The situation unfolded at the Old National Bank in the downtown area, according to local outlet WHAS.

Officials will hold a press conference at 10:30am CT.
