A report released Monday details how human traffickers are using Facebook – and the Biden administration’s new open border’s policies – to generate business and smuggle illegal aliens into the United States.
Public Facebook pages called “Migrants from Various Countries in Mexico” and “Migrants in the Mexico-U.S.A. Border Awaiting Hearing,” among others, were openly being used by smugglers on the Big Tech platform to scheme with would-be illegal aliens about how to break America’s immigration laws.
The posts on such pages read like advertisements for a travel agency.
“Travel to Mexico to the United States. Costs $8,000. 100 percent safe,” one post, written in Spanish, reportedly said. “Cross through Matamoros. You walk one hour, after in automobile until you arrive to your relative.”
“Make your dream a reality in the United States. We are here to help you,” another post said. “The journey is safe and reliable and the price is $4,500 leaving from Monterrey to San Antonio, Texas.”
“It’s ready. 3,000 to arrive at the line/ 6000 to jump to your destination. Whatever state. Pay when your relatives receive you,” a third reportedly said.
Central Americans and residents of Mexican also posted on the pages, asking the smugglers to help them reach the United States. According to the report, they were quickly given quotes for travel by would-be smugglers.
The human traffickers are also paying close attention to the United State’s border policies, which have recently changed under the Biden administration.
When a person in one of the Facebook groups asked if families caught crossing the border illegally were being allowed to stay in the United States, or whether only unaccompanied minor children were allowed to stay, a smuggler reportedly responded by saying that only unaccompanied minors would be taken into custody and allowed to remain in the United States.
That policy has since changed, as the Biden administration has been forced to take in entire families that were previously made to wait in Mexico under president Donald J. Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy. Under that policy, illegal aliens were given immigration hearing dates upon their arrival, but instead of being released into the United States while waiting for their hearings, they had to stay south of the border until the hearing date. That policy significantly deterred would-be illegal aliens from crossing the border.
Mexico is now refusing to keep those illegal aliens in its custody, and migrant detention facilities are above capacity, and their resources are “stretched beyond thin.”
Facebook reportedly said that solicitation for human trafficking is against its terms of service, and that it removes such groups as they are reported by users.
Trump, who is himself banned from Facebook, made the following statement on the ongoing border crisis on March 21:
“We proudly handed the Biden Administration the most secure border in history. All they had to do was keep this smooth-running system on autopilot. Instead, in the span of a just few weeks, the Biden Administration has turned a national triumph into a national disaster. They are in way over their heads and taking on water fast.
The pathetic, clueless performance of Secretary Mayorkas on the Sunday Shows today was a national disgrace. His self-satisfied presentation—in the middle of the massive crisis he helped engineer—is yet more proof he is incapable of leading DHS. Even someone of Mayorkas’ limited abilities should understand that if you provide Catch-and-Release to the world’s illegal aliens then the whole world will come.
Furthermore, the Mayorkas Gag Order on our Nation’s heroic border agents and ICE officers should be the subject of an immediate congressional investigation. But it’s clear they are engaged in a huge cover-up to hide just how bad things truly are. The only way to end the Biden Border Crisis is for them to admit their total failure and adopt the profoundly effective, proven Trump policies.
They must immediately complete the wall, which can be done in a matter of weeks—they should never have stopped it. They are causing death and human tragedy. In addition to the obvious, drugs are pouring into our country at record levels from the Southern Border, not to mention human and sex trafficking. This Administration’s reckless policies are enabling and encouraging crimes against humanity. Our Country is being destroyed!”
