Biden Executive Order Attempts to Force Taxpayers to Fund Abortions on Demand

Joe Biden issued an executive order Wednesday that will attempt to force taxpayers to fund abortions on demand, including for women who travel to pro-abortion states to obtain late-term abortions.

Biden said in the order:

As it remains the policy of my Administration to support women’s access to reproductive healthcare services, including their ability to travel to seek abortion care in States where it is legal, I am directing my Administration to take further action to protect access to reproductive healthcare services and to address the crisis facing women’s health and public health more broadly.

Biden said he would be directing the secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to “consider actions to advance access to reproductive healthcare services, including, to the extent permitted by Federal law, through Medicaid for patients traveling across State lines for medical care.”

The order comes following the defeat of an amendment in Kansas that would have allowed elected lawmakers to regulate abortion in the state.

The abortion industry and its allies cheered the amendment’s defeat, the first popular vote on abortion since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June, claiming it to be a sure sign abortion is a major midterm election issue that will snatch an anticipated victory from Republicans.

Fox News reported on the overwhelming financial support to defeat the amendment from abortion proponents from outside Kansas:

Filed with the Kansas Governmental Ethics Commission last month, financial reports from Kansans for Constitutional Freedom (KCF), a group that bills itself as a “bipartisan coalition of reproductive rights advocates and allied organizations,” revealed that about 71% of the $6.54 million in contributions it had received were from out-of-state entities. An estimated 29% of the contributions it received were from residents or groups in Kansas.

“Large contributions received by KCF include $1.38 million from Sixteen Thirty Fund, a powerful left-wing dark money group, and $850,000 from Planned Parenthood Action Fund,” Fox News continued. “Planned Parenthood Great Plains Votes, an advocacy arm for Kansas’ Planned Parenthood Great Plains, also donated more than $490,000.”

Biden celebrated the defeat of the Kansas amendment, stating the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization “put women’s health and lives at risk”:

Tonight, the American people had something to say about it. Voters in Kansas turned out in record numbers to reject extreme efforts to amend the state constitution to take away a woman’s right to choose and open the door for a state-wide ban. This vote makes clear what we know: the majority of Americans agree that women should have access to abortion and should have the right to make their own health care decisions.

But, national pro-life leaders are rejecting the narrative put forward by Biden and other pro-abortion activists.

Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser said in a statement:

Biden and the Democrats make a serious error in assuming Americans nationwide agree with their radical agenda – using the full weight of the federal government to impose abortion on demand up to the moment of birth, illegally forcing taxpayers to fund it, ‘cracking down’ on nonprofits that provide life-affirming alternatives, and threatening to destroy any guardrails of democracy that stand in their way. Their pro-abortion extremism is deeply unpopular, in key battleground states and among rank-and-file Democrats and Independents.

The Biden Department of Justice (DOJ) has also filed a lawsuit against the state of Idaho, whose pro-life law enacted by its citizens’ elected representatives, allows for exceptions for rape and incest that have been reported to police, and to “prevent the death of the pregnant woman.”

The DOJ claims the Idaho law will violate federal law requiring ending a pregnancy to save a woman’s life.

OB/GYN Dr. Christina Francis, a board member and CEO-elect of the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists (AAPLOG), recently told The Star News Network the claim by pro-abortion activists that pro-life laws will prevent women from receiving life-saving medical care amounts to fearmongering.

“They don’t have evidence to back it up, and they’re having to rely on spreading the lie that women are not going to be able to be treated for things like ectopic pregnancy and miscarriage, which is simply not true,” Francis asserted. “But that’s their only defense for their abortion position.”

The OB/GYN, who is also an associate scholar at the pro-life Charlotte Lozier Institute, responded to the “misinformation” by radical pro-abortion politicians and lobbyists:

My heart is breaking that women are being made to feel fearful by the misinformation that’s out there. Treating ectopic pregnancies or miscarriages or other life-threatening conditions in pregnancy is not the same thing as an abortion. Chemical abortions, which are being heavily promoted by the abortion industry and its allies, cannot treat an ectopic pregnancy according to the FDA. The treatments for ectopic pregnancy are not the same procedures used by induced abortions, which even Planned Parenthood admits. As a pro-life OB/GYN who’s practiced my entire career in hospitals that do not allow abortions, I have never been prevented from safely treating an ectopic pregnancy.

“In the rare but tragic situations where a pregnancy puts the mother’s life at risk, there are medical procedures for compassionately separating the mother and her baby and working to save both lives,” Francis added. “The only intent of an abortion is to produce a dead baby. Women deserve to be empowered by medically accurate information.”
