Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday threw cold water on President Biden’s push for a multistep cease-fire agreement.
“Israel’s conditions for ending the war have not changed: the destruction of Hamas military and governing capabilities, the freeing of all hostages and ensuring that Gaza no longer poses a threat to Israel,” Mr. Netanyahu’s office said in a statement on X.
The prime minister’s stance comes less than a day after Mr. Biden announced the terms of a cease-fire proposal from Qatar that included a three-phase plan to end hostilities and release the remaining hostages in Gaza.
