The Patriot Week Foundation is marking its 10th anniversary by hosting a series of events in Oakland County, Michigan, throughout September to promote the Constitution and American civics.
Events range from family hayrides to a speech competition for students, as well as a 9/11 observance.

The “Remembrance and Discussion of 9/11, America’s Liberty, and the Constitution” will be held today, Tuesday, Sept. 10 at Royal Oak Oakland Community College, according to Patriot Week Foundation. The Center for Civic Engagement and Veterans Support Services is a co-host.
There will be open discussion and a FB Live interview with Judge Michael Warren as we remember and discuss 9/11, America’s Liberty and the Constitution!
The annual Michigan Fallen Heroes Memorial Ceremony will be Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 6 pm. New names of Michigan’s Heroes from Police and Fire will be unveiled to memorialize their sacrifice. More information is online here.
The annual Patriot Week Student Speech Competition will be held Thursday, Sept. 12 from 9 a.m. to noon at Oakland County Circuit Court in Pontiac. After preparing a speech, students will present their argument in a courtroom. The audience will include other students, parents and teachers. The contest will be adjudicated by judges, lawyers, and other members of the community.
Patriot Week Foundation’s ceremonies will conclude on Friday, Sept. 27 from 1-3 p.m. with the Oakland County Patriot Week Celebration, a free, family-friendly event with food, games, hayrides and more. The venue is Hoffman Farms Winery, 2521 Rose Center Rd., Highland.
Patriot Week Foundation co-creator Judge Michael Warren is also involved with the 2019 Michigan Star Constitution Bee on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019 at Royal Oak Oakland Community College. Students in grades 8 through 12 are eligible to participate. The questions and associated study guide are geared to students in grades 11 and 12, but ambitious students in grades 8, 9, and 10 are welcome as well.

The student who wins the Grand Prize Championship as the top Constitution secondary school student in the state of Michigan at the December 14 Michigan Star Constitution Bee will receive an all-expenses paid trip to Washington, D.C, along with a parent, plus a $3,000.00 (three thousand) scholarship to apply to the first year’s expenses to the winner’s college or trade school of choice after high school.
