Donald Trump Endorses Candidate John James for Michigan’s 10th Congressional District

Former President Donald Trump endorsed two-time Senate candidate and Army veteran John James on Thursday for Michigan’s 10th Congressional District.

“John James is a fantastic candidate running for Congress in Michigan’s 10th Congressional District,” Trump released in a statement. “John was a brave combat pilot, flying the very impressive Apache Helicopter in Operation Iraqi Freedom. John isn’t just tough, but he is also very smart — he received his Master’s Degree in Supply Chain Management from Penn State and his MBA from the University of Michigan. He is a job creator and a problem solver who knows how to deliver for Michigan. What’s more important during a supply chain crisis than a supply chain expert? John James is going to be a great Republican member of Congress, and has my Complete and Total Endorsement!”

James responded to Trump’s endorsement on Twitter.

“Excited and grateful for President Donald Trump’s endorsement! President Trump knows that relevant leadership experience is what Michigan’s 10th congressional district needs to help lead our Country back to safety and prosperity,” James tweeted.

The Michigan Star previously reported James announced his candidacy for Michigan’s 10th district on January 31st.

“I fought on the battlefield for American lives and in business for good-paying jobs that fuel livelihoods. I will continue to fight for the hardworking families in Michigan’s 10th district as today I announce my run for Congress,” James said in a Twitter post at the time.

Michigan’s 10th district, recently redrawn, will include portions of Macomb County and Oakland County, and figures to be more competitive than it has been in the past.

The incumbent is freshman Rep. Lisa McClain (R-MI-10), who won handily in 2020 by a two-thirds margin.

The primary election date is August 2nd.
