Eleven Iranian migrants were arrested on Monday after crossing the border illegally from Mexico into Arizona, as reported by Breitbart.

The group of illegals, confirmed to consist of six men and five women, was stopped in Yuma County, Arizona by the Yuma Sector Border Patrol. After being confirmed as Iranian citizens, they were taken to the Yuma Station for processing and questioning. The group included five adult women, two young boys, and four adult men.

In a statement addressing the matter, Yuma Sector officials confirmed that “the primary mission of the Border Patrol is to prevent nefarious people and devices from entering the United States. Iran is a designated Special Interest Country, and the agents of Yuma Sector work diligently to protect our borders for the safety of our nation.”

This is not the first recorded instance of Iranian illegals attempting to enter the country in Yuma County, which has seen more illegal immigration from Iranians than any other area in the United States. The border patrol in Yuma Sector had previously arrested eight Iranians over the course of the 2020 fiscal year, compared to 14 Iranians arrested over the combined expanse of the other eight sectors along the southwest portion of the southern border. With this latest arrest, Yuma Sector has already arrested 14 Iranian illegals this fiscal year alone.
