Giuliani Threatens to Sue Rashida Tlaib and Others for ‘Conspiracy to Violate Civil Rights’

Rudy Giuliani, President Donald Trump’s personal attorney, said he’s considering filing a lawsuit against Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI-13) and others for “witness intimidation.”

As The Michigan Star recently reported, Tlaib told her constituents during a recent town hall that Democratic lawmakers are looking for ways to arrest White House officials who don’t comply with congressional subpoenas and suggested detaining them in Detroit.

Giuliani said those comments were “tantamount to witness intimidation” in an interview with Yahoo News. According to the outlet, Giuliani is working with outside lawyers to build a case that Tlaib and other Democrats, like House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, are attempting to “deprive” President Trump “of civil rights” and are engaged in a “conspiracy to remove the president at all costs.”

He accused Schiff of trying to “inhibit me in my ability to defend” the president. Giuliani concluded by revealing that a “very established law firm” is working on filing the lawsuit against sitting U.S. representatives.

“This is evidence of a conspiracy to violate civil rights and to defraud us,” Giuliani wrote on Twitter in regards to Tlaib’s comments.

“Illustrating Dem conspiracy to violate civil rights is Tlaib statement Dems planning to arrest Republicans,” he added. “She is clearly referring to Donald Trump, his lawyers (government and private) and the administration officials to whom they have sent their unauthorized letters.”

“I got the highest grade in constitutional law,” said Giuliani, arguing that there are no constitutional restraints on bringing this type of lawsuit against sitting members of Congress.

Early Monday morning, Giuliani again wrote on Twitter that he has “some promising grounds for a legal action for conspiracy to violate constitutional and civil rights.”
